Too many people think of literature as that stuffy subject for ivory-tower types. When they imagine literature, they think of dusty old books (like the one picture in the corner) and the musty smell of weathered pages. That need not be the case. Literature can offer solace, insight, comfort, humor, enlightenment, and so many other things. The oldest books could be the the ones most appropriate for your time and place and therefore the most current and relevant books around. This page, brief though it may be, is dedicated to a few of my favorite literary quotations, links to good literary resources, and eventually, links to sites about writing.
Quotes

--Harold Bloom

--Mark Twain
Every day we should hear at least one little song, read one good poem, see one exquisite picture, and, if possible, speak a few sensible words.
--Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
The failure to read good books both enfeebles the vision and strengthens our most fatal tendency--the belief that the here and now is all there is.
--Allan Bloom
A conventional good read is usually a bad read, a relaxing bath in what we know already. A true good read is surely an act of innovative creation in which we, the readers, become conspirators.
--Malcolm Bradbury
The proper study of mankind is books.
--Aldous Huxley
